Good Hygiene Habits
- When brushing your teeth, remember to take your time. Brushing too aggressively can cause gum recession and tooth abrasion.
- Floss regularly. Plaque and bacteria can build up on and between your teeth. When this build up is not removed, gum disease, or periodontis, can develop.
- Use a floss holder if you have difficulty holding floss.
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day after meals.
- Replace your toothbrush every three months, at least.
- Use fluoride toothpaste.
- Saliva helps breakdown plaque. Eating fruits and vegetables helps stimulate salivary flow in the mouth.
- Visit the dentist regularly. Periodic check ups can catch potential problems early before manifesting into serious oral health conditions.
